EDT Lessons in Limerick
What is EDT?
EDT stands for Essential Driver Training. It’s a course of 12 mandatory lessons that every learner driver in Ireland must complete before taking their driving test.
The RSA introduced EDT to make sure new drivers have proper, structured training before hitting the roads solo. Each lesson covers a specific skill, building up from the basics to more complex driving situations.
The 12 EDT Lessons

| Lesson 11: Driving at night (if applicable) | Lesson 12: Motorway driving and review |
How It Works
Each lesson is logged in your official RSA logbook. I’ll sign off each one as you complete it. You need all 12 signed off before you can sit your test.
Lessons are typically 1 hour each, though some learners prefer 2-hour sessions to make faster progress.

Already have some experience? A family member been teaching you?
If you have a sponsor (someone who supervises your practice driving), I can do Sponsor Lessons. These count towards your EDT and help fill any gaps in your training.
